          Sally Ride was a student in the late 70’s when NASA began searching for women astronauts.

          She actually saw an ad in her school newspaper and decided to apply for the NASA astronaut program! She was one of only six women who were chosen for the job!

          To honor her achievements, two schools in the United States were named after Sally Ride.
